RIO
Rio gives new meaning
to the words "happy camper". She is a perpetually happy little
soul, tail always up
and wagging and always happy to go along with any mischief that the other pups
get her into. Rio is a "blue" beagle, a colour seldom seen in the
show ring, she was the first "blue" to finish an International
conformation title in Canada and the also the first "blue" to place
in the group at an International show. 2003 was a busy year
for Rio, in June she whelped a beautiful litter of 4 puppies, unfortunately
complications following her delivery resulted in emergency surgery for her and
we almost lost our "Little Blue Bomb" to a massive abdominal
bleed. A prolonged recovery period has resulted in our decision to
withdraw Rio from our breeding program and allow her to retire to pursue other
goals. Rio has followed her Mothers footsteps and is now a
Certified Pet therapy Dog. In 2005 she easily passed a Canine Good
Neighbour test and qualified for the BCBC Versatility Award for Beagle of The
Year (2005), an honour which she shared with her son Beanie, who also
qualified for the Versatility Award that year. Rio is owned and trained by
Pamela Sheehan.
